In short

  • No account. No login.
  • No ads. No tracking SDKs.
  • App settings and cached prices stay on your iPhone.
  • We do not sell your information.

Data stored on your iPhone

The btcountr iOS app (iOS 17+) keeps data inside Apple's iOS sandbox — an isolated app container that other apps cannot read.

  • What is stored: your in-app preferences (such as sound and haptics) and a local cache of the most recent BTC/USD price so the display can load quickly.
  • Where it goes: nowhere off your device. We do not upload this data to our servers or sync it to iCloud.
  • When it is deleted: uninstalling btcountr from your iPhone removes all of this data permanently.

What the app sends over the network

Both the main iOS app and the Home Screen widget (WidgetKit) fetch the live Bitcoin price over HTTPS from the btcountr price API.

  • What each request includes: standard HTTP headers your device sends on any HTTPS connection (for example, User-Agent and Accept).
  • What we do not send: Apple ID, email address, name, IDFA (Apple's advertising identifier), GPS or location data, contacts, photos, or any account credentials — because btcountr has no accounts.

How the price API works

When your iPhone requests a price update, this is what happens:

  1. Your iPhone sends an HTTPS request to the btcountr API server.
  2. Our server queries public cryptocurrency exchange APIs for current BTC/USD rates.
  3. The server returns a JSON response with the latest price to your app or widget.

Your iPhone talks directly to our API. It does not connect to those exchange APIs itself, and we do not forward your identity to them — they only see requests from our server.

Server logs

Like most web services, our price API may record basic connection metadata when your app requests a price:

  • What may be logged: IP address, request timestamp, HTTP method, URL path, response status code, and User-Agent string.
  • Why: to keep the service running — monitoring uptime, debugging errors, and blocking abuse.
  • What we do not do: use these logs for advertising, build user profiles, or sell data to third parties.

Third-party services

  • Apple (iOS / App Store) — distributes the app and processes the one-time $1.99 purchase through StoreKit. Apple handles payment details; we never receive your card number. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare — hosts this website (btcountr.app) on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit the site, Cloudflare may process standard web request metadata (such as IP address and User-Agent) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Public exchange APIs — third-party cryptocurrency exchanges and price aggregators that publish BTC/USD rates. We query these server-side to source price data.

This website

btcountr.app is a static marketing site (home, support, and this privacy page). It does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. The support form opens your device's email app via mailto: — your message is sent from your own email client; we do not operate a backend that stores form submissions.
